          Bio: Eiko Ojala is a renowned illustrator and a graphic designer. He lives 
in Tallinn, Estonia. He works mostly digitally and draws
 everything by hand. Within his work process Eiko likes
 to study the forms of shapes and to work closely with light
 and shadow.

          The Estonian artist and illustrator works with a range of major publications around the world, creating impactful and thought-provoking.

          He likes to keep his illustrations minimal and
 well-advised. Eiko combines consummate craftsmanship
 with a healthy sprinkling of wit.

          The artist works digitally without the aid of 3D software where he draws everything by hand to create landscapes, figures and portraits that look as if they’ve been cut from paper.

          Most critical are the placement of shadows which Ojala also draws by hand, though via email he admits the complexity occasionally requires the use of photographed shadows which he then incorporates into the illustrations.

          Eiko won a 2013 Young Illustrators award and an ADC Young Gun award, and his work has appeared in Wired, the New York Times, the New Yorker, Dwell Magazine and elsewhere.
