          Who is Ivan the Terrible?

          Ivan the Terrible, officially known as Ivan IV, was the first crowned tsar of Russia, holding power from 1533 to 1584.

          Born on August 25, 1530, in the Grand Duchy of Muscovy, he was a grandson of Ivan the Great. His early life was marked by tragedy, losing his father at a young age and facing a tumultuous regency under his mother until her death.
